Declutter the Junk Drawer

Ok. Here’s the deal. I’m a big fan of having a junk drawer. Some may think it’s silly, but I think everyone needs ONE place to stash items quickly. You know that area…where you put stuff before a friend comes over or when you’re just too tired to find a “real home” for something.

The only downfall is that you have to clear out the junk drawer periodically. Thankfully, by doing something as simple as scheduling a clean out session once a month, it shouldn’t take too long to clean it out.

Since most people probably don’t schedule their junk drawer clean out day, let’s declutter the junk drawer today as part of the Declutter Your Home series. Sound good?

Take 5 to 15 minutes to declutter your junk drawer. I bet it won’t take as long as you think!

DECLUTTER THE JUNK DRAWER >>>

Before you get intimidated, you’re just tacking 1 drawer and taking care of the overflow. You can do it! Grab your decluttering toolkit for this task to help you make decisions quicker. Since most items in a junk drawer actually belong somewhere else, the “move” container will give you a place to hold those items before taking them to their rightful home.

  1. Open the drawer.
  2. Trash anything you don’t need anymore.
  3. Put items that have an obvious home where they belong.
  4. Create a home for the other items.
  5. Organize the rest.
